“I made this piece for the 2013 Reticule Exhibition. It was July when I was thinking about what to make and the Rosebay willowherb on Black Horse Hill was looking amazing. The pack I had as a starter for the exhibition was a mixture of pink hand embroidery threads, so it was an easy decision to use the photos I’d taken. The background is machine embroidered but the foreground flowers and grasses are all hand embroidered with knots and straight stitches. ”
